Raw Banana Chips are deep fried unripened banana chips with added spices. They are simple to make and require very less ingredients. As they are made from fruit and use only pepper and salt it can be had during fasting like Navratri Vrat. You will need a slicer to make this recipe along with unripened plantains. Ready made banana wafers are easily available in the market but homemade wafers are really good. Do try it today!

INGREDIENTS:
For making Masala:
2 tsp black pepper powder
1 tsp black salt
Salt to taste (use table salt or Sindhav namak)
6 unripened bananas (plantains) (about 500 gm)
Oil for deep frying
SERVES: Makes 128 gm Banana Chips
PREPARATION TIME: 10 Min
COOKING TIME: 15 Min
TOTAL TIME: 25 Min
* 1 CUP = 237 ML
METHOD:
Making Masala:
1. Mix all the ingredients of Masala well to lump free powder using a spoon and keep aside.
Frying Banana Chips:
1. Peel Bananas in batches of 2 using a vegetable peeler by first removing the stem and tail parts.
2. Heat oil for frying and then reduce flame.
3. Using a chips slicer make long slices directly in to hot oil.
4. Fry till golden and crispy and then take it out on a strainer placed on a large bowl. Any excess oil will come out in the bowl.
5. Repeat for rest of the bananas.
6. Once all chips are fried put the masala over it and mix it nicely with hands.
7. Once cooled down store chips in air tight container for 7-10 days.
TIPS:
1. Use a vegetable peeler to peel off the banana skin. Ensure to peel it properly and no green part is left behind.
2. Peel 2 bananas at a time or else it will turn dark in colour and chips will not look good!
3. For frying use a deep kadai or pan with lots of oil.
4. After putting slices in oil immediately separate any chips together using a straining ladle or it can stick and cook on high flame till crispy
5. The masala prepared is sufficient for 6 bananas (small-medium size). If you use more bananas adjust quantity accordingly.
