INGREDIENTS:
For Cheesy Orange Cake:
150g (approx 1 1/4 cup) all purpose flour (maida)
2 tbsp tang orange powder
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
60g (approx 1/3 cup) unsalted butter
30g (1 1/2 cubes) processed cheese grated
200g (1/2 tin) condensed milk
1/8 tsp orange food color
8-10 drops orange essence
1 cup milk
For White Chocolate Sauce:
1/2 cup grated white chocolate
1/8 cup milk
1 tbsp butter
pinch orange food color
SERVES: Makes 7 1/2" x 3 1/2" Cake Loaf
PREPARATION TIME: 20 Mins
BAKING TIME: 50 Mins
TOTAL TIME: 70 Mins
* 1 CUP = 240 ML
METHOD:
For Cheesy Orange Cake:
1. Sieve all purpose flour (maida), tang orange powder, baking powder & baking soda in a bowl. Keep aside.
2. In another bowl, whisk unsalted butter, processed cheese grated & condensed milk until pale & fluffy.
3. Add orange food color & orange essence. Mix well.
4. Add dry mixture to this & gradually add milk to form a dropping consistency batter.
5. Grease a 7.5"x3.5" Loaf tin with butter and place parchment paper on bottom.
6. Put the batter in loaf tin. Tap the loaf tin so that batter is spread evenly and any air bubbles are released.
7. Bake the cake in a preheated oven at 180C/356F for 20 min and then at 150C/302F for 30 min. Check and if required bake for 5 min more.
8. After 50 min take out the tin from the oven and allow it to rest for 10 min.
9. Using a knife scrape the sides of the tin. Place a plate over/under the tin and turn it upside down. Lightly tap the tin so that the cake will come out.
10. Put the cake on a cooling rack for at least 2-3 hours.
For White Chocolate Sauce:
1. In a microwave safe bowl, add grated white chocolate, milk & butter.
2. Microwave at high power for 30 seconds & mix.
3. Microwave at intervals of 10 seconds more if the chocolate has not melted.
4. Add orange food color & mix. Allow it come to room temperature.
5. White Chocolate Sauce is ready.
For Assembling Cake:
1. Pour White Chocolate Sauce over the cake & let it drip down.
2. Refrigerate the cake for 15 mins.
3. Cut cake in to slices and Cheesy Orange Cake is ready to eat!
