INGREDIENTS:
1 cup coarsely ground wheat flour
¼ cup + 1 tbsp ghee + for greasing
⅛ cup water
¾ cup jaggery
2 tbsp pieces of almonds, cashew nuts & black raisins
2 tsp poppy seeds
¼ tsp cardamom powder
1 tbsp desiccated coconut
SERVES: Makes 350 g Churma Ladoo
PREPARATION TIME: 25 min
RESTING TIME: 1 h
COOKING TIME: 14 min
SETTING TIME: 30 min
TOTAL TIME: 2 h 9 min
* 1 CUP = 237 ML
METHOD:
- Mix coarsely ground wheat flour & ¼ cup melted ghee.
- Now add water as required to knead dough to medium stiff.
- Rest for 30 min.
- Divide into 2 balls.
- Roll one ball to thin roti on rolling board using a rolling pin.
- Roast on tawa on medium flame for 4-5 min.
- Take it out on plate.
- Prepare other roti in same way (repeat step 5-7).
- Break rotis to pieces & put in a bowl.
- Allow to cool down for 15-20 min.
- Grind to fine powder in mixer grinder.
- Transfer to a bowl & churma mixture is ready.
- Heat 1 tbsp ghee in a pan.
- Add jaggery & cook on low flame till jaggery melts stirring continuously.
- Add pieces of almonds, cashew nuts & black raisins, poppy seeds, cardamom powder.
- Add 1 tbsp desiccated coconut in churma mixture.
- Now pour hot jaggery mixture in churma mixture.
- Mix using a spatula.
- Allow mixture to cool down for 5-10 min till it is manageable by hands.
- Take a small amount of mixture in greased hands & roll to ladoo shape.
- Roll ladoo in 1 tsp poppy seeds to decorate (optional).
- Transfer to a plate.
- Prepare rest of ladoos in same way (repeat step 20-22 till all mixture is finished).
- Allow to set for 30 min & then it is ready!
- Store in airtight container for 7 days.
