Farali Sabudana Buff Vada is a special fasting recipe from Gujarat. The main ingredient being boiled potatoes & sabudana flour is mixed with variety of spices & flavors to give it a different and unique taste than the regular Sabudana Vada we generally make during fastings or vrat. Farali Sabudana Buff Vada is very easy to make & can be made ahead of time and fried just when needed to be served! These buff vadas are best served hot with green chutney! INGREDIENTS:
1 cup boiled & mashed potatoes (2-3 potatoes)
½ cup sabudana (sago) flour
¼ tsp cumin seeds
½ tsp sesame seeds
¼ tsp black pepper powder
1 tbsp coarsely ground peanuts (unsalted)
1 tbsp powdered sugar
1 tbsp desiccated coconut
2 tsp ginger chillies paste
Juice of 1 lemon
1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
Salt to taste
1 tbsp cashew nuts & raisins broken into pieces
Oil for frying
SERVES: Makes 10-12 sabudana buff vada
PREPARATION TIME: 15 min
COOKING TIME: 10 min
TOTAL TIME: 25 min
* 1 CUP = 237 ML
METHOD:
- In a bowl, mix potatoes, sabudana (sago) flour, cumin seeds, sesame seeds, black pepper powder, ground peanuts (unsalted), powdered sugar, desiccated coconut , ginger chillies paste, lemon juice, coriander leaves & salt to taste.
- Prepare small lemon size ball from the mixture & flatten it slightly.
- Add 1-2 cashew nuts & raisins pieces & roll into ball shape again.
- Heat oil for frying.
- Add buff vada in oil & fry on med-high flame till golden colour.
- Take it out on paper napkin.
- Serve with green chutney.
